​Chaungtha beach is a popular destination for locals.
 

Getting here
Drive from Yangon to Chaung Tha taking takes about 5 hours.
If you don’ t like Chaung tha beach take a boat ride for 3000 kyat from the south side of the beach to White Sand island. They will take you there any time of the day and pick you up about every 30 or 50 minutes. Bring loads of water. It’s also highly recommended the motorbike taxi for 10.000 kyats to Ngwesaung beach. It takes about 1.5 hours and it’s a beautiful ride over 3 rivers and 2 villages. You also get to ride on 2 beaches that have no people or buildings anywhere. Recommended By Kenny Austin.
Whitesand Island, a little island inhabitated 15 min. From Chaung Tha, a return boat cost 3.000 kyatts  and hire a mask for snorkeling it’s about 2.000 Kyats.
