14,000 Kyats from airport to hotel in downtown area. It takes about 1 hour to get to the city.
 

Bus
Mandalay>Nyaung U (Bagan)- 12-13.000 kyats and hotel pick-up and drop-off. Bus ride takes 7 hours, on a bus with air-con, 41-seats with TV. Quite comfortable bus ride.
Mandalay>Bagan- 13,000 Kyats per person for bus ticket. We bought the bus ticket from our hotel. Yangon>Mandalay- Shwe Mandalar bus company travels daily from 4pm to 7pm every hour , 7.30pm, 9pm. Price: 9.400 kyats.
Tat Lann bus company departs at 4.30, takes 11h.30 and cost 13.000 kyats.

Train
Mandalay>Bagan- 2 departures daily. Tickets cost 10$ upper class, 1st class 7$, ordinary seat 4$.  The journey takes about 7 hours.
Mandalay>Yangon- Departs at 6am, 3pm and 5pm. Standard sleeper 33$, upper class seat 30$, first class 22$ and ordinary seat 11$.
Mandalay>Pyin Oo Lwin departs at 4am and arrives at 7.52am. Upper class 3$, 1st class 3$, ordinary seat 2$.
Mandalay>Hsipaw departs at 4am and arrives at Hsipaw at 2.55pm. (Upper class 11$, 9$ first class and 3$ for an ordinary seat).

Eat
If you’ re on a budget, across the street from the Mintha Theater, there is small Burmese restaurant. Shan noodle only 500 Kyat. The portion is small but tasty.

Aye Myit Tar- Around 8.000 Kyats. Excellent Burmese restaurant for locals with excellent food, big portions and low prices. Phone.: 31627 cell 09-2002-357. Address: 530, 81st Street. 530, 81 Street (between 36 and 37 Street).

A Little Bit of Mandalay- A small garden restaurant, serving proper  Burmese food. Address: 413 (B), 65th St., between 27th & 28th Street. (Near Green Elephant Restaurant) Phone: 61295

Ko's Kitchen- Thai restaurant. Very popular and touristic restaurant. Some Chinese dishes are very oily. Mojitos for 800 kyats. Recommended By Kenny Austin.​
 

Marie Min Vegetarian Restaurant- Wide range of vegetarian indian curries and a selection of pancakes.  The prices are higher than in local Burmese restaurants. Address: 27th Street, Between 74th and 75th Street

Nepali vegetable cuisine- 1.500-3.000 Kyats. Vegetarian Nepal restaurant located on the Indian district. Cheap, tasty food and big portions (lassi, paratha, chapatti, dahaal puri) 81 Street, between 26 and 27 Street. Cell : 09-2050872

Buy handicrafts

Visit
Mandalay Hill- Free entrance. It has a temple on top and a terrace with 360º Mandalay’s views. There is a lift and mechanical stairs to get to the top.  A pick-up truck for 6,000 Kyats.
From Mandalay, it´s also possible to visit U Thein bridge, near Amarapura, at sunrise. A taxi to get there and back around 14.000 kyats.
 

Mintha Theatre is dedicated to classical Myanmar dance. There are performances daily at 8:30pm. Ticket Price: 8.000 kyats.  Address: 27th Street between 65th and 66th (Near the Sedona Hotel). Phone: 09-6803607 www.minthatheater.com

Mandalay Fort (Royal) Palace- 10$. Get to the Palace through the east gate (Only Gate available for tourists). Address: 63 Street Kye Mon bridge. Open from 7.30 am-5pm.
 

Moustache brothers show- 8.000 kyats (10$) They actually play their shows at their home. They are famous because they challenge the military junta with their jokes and they went to prison for 7 years. And now, they still keep making show critizising the goverment with their dark comedy and explain to the tourists what is wrong in Myanmar politics and society.
 

Mahamuni Pagoda- 3€ entrance. Located on the south of Mandalay. Open from 6am-8pm. Address: Between 82nd and 85th St. corner with Bobahtoo Road.
