Getting ready to Myanmar

 

Do you need a visa to get to this country? You must have a valid passport for at least 6 months from the day you get to the country.

Visa
Business visa on arrival, entry visa, and transit visa are available, but not for all countries (check with the embassy), at the Yangon and Mandalay International Airport. Business visa, valid up to 70 days upon entry. Visas on arrival are only granted to travelers with the necessary documents, including a letter of invitation from their sponsoring company. A 70-day business via costs US$50, a 28-day entry visa for meetings, workshops or events is $40, and a 24-hour transit visa is $20. Tourism visa has a maximum of 28 days, non-extendable. Visa on arrival (VOA) for business and touristic purposes are available since end of 2012 in Yangon and Mandalay airport.

Visa from Thailand:
If you’re in Thailand it’s possible to get the visa to Myanmar from Bangkok.

TIP! When you get to the Embassy skip the queue and go straight to the window on the left (counter 4) and pick it up from the table if there is any left or ask for a form. Then queue up and fill the form while waiting. Sometimes there is some glue in the counter, use it to stick the photo on the form.


The visa section is opened for applications only from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Pick up Visas only from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Monday-friday.
Depending on how fast you want to get your visa, you can choose*:
-Same-day visa (collect same day) cost 1260 bahts.
-Next-day visa cost 1035 bahts.

-Two (working) day visa cost 810 bahts.


Documents required:
-Application form. Get it from counter nº4, the window on the left.
-Original passport (Must have at least a 6 months validity from the day you get to Myanmar)
-Copy of the passport
-A prove of your flight to Myanmar in case you want the same-day visa. They didn’t demand it to me, though.
-2 photos, passport size (35mm x 45mm) one glued and another paper-clipped to the application form.
-Bring money for the visa fees*


When you get to the counter and they process your documents, they will give you a yellow receipt, like the picture bellow. Keep it in a safe place because you will need it to pick up your visa. Remember, only from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.


Visa from Malaysia:

You can apply in Myanmar’s embassy in Kuala Lumpur  .

Address: 8 Jalan Ampang Hilir, 55000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan.
The closest  station is Ampang Park tube/underground station. From there take a taxi or walk. It takes about 2 km. Opening hours: 9:30 – 12:30 Pick up Visa from 16:00 – 17:00  +60 3-4251 5595

Documents required:
-Original passport (Must have at least a 6 months validity)
-Copy of the passport
-A prove of your flight to Myanmar.
-Application form. It’ s posible to ask in the application desk without need of queing up.
-2 photos passaport size (35mm x 45mm)
-28 days visa non extendable 110RM. You can get it in 24h.
